Redwings are migratory birds. They are winter visitors to most parts of the UK.

Nature’s Calendar monitors how early or late redwings leave the UK in the spring, after their winter visit.

In a location that you monitor regularly (at least once a week), record the date on which you last see redwings before they migrate (usually February-April).

As the departure times gets closer, keep a note of the dates when you do see the birds. Do this until you no longer see them and then you have your ‘last recorded’ date.

Available historic data: we have some records from 1907-1913 and more from 1923-1939
