Cocksfoot
Dactylis glomerata
Height: a tussocky grass growing up to 140 cm in height.
Leaves: leaves are a bluish green with a keeled underside. The stems at the base of the plant appear flattened or compressed.
Flowers: the dense flower inflorescence is comprised of three or more smaller flower spikes (5-9 mm long) at the end of the stems.
Distribution: widespread and common, found on all types of grassland and waste ground.
