Fruit: blackberries, compound fruit, black or dark purple when ripe.
Distribution: hedgerows and woodland.

Not to be confused with
Dewberry
Dewberry (Rubus caesius). The thorns of dewberry are smaller and the fruits only have a few segments. They are covered with a blue bloom. There are only 3 leaflets per leaf. (FLPA/Alamy)
