First autumn tinting

Record first autumn tinting when several leaves on the same tree or branch have started to change colour.

If you have recorded horse chestnut events before, please continue to record on the same tree.

If your tree is infected by leaf miner (the larvae of a tiny moth that forms burrows within the leaf tissue, resulting in leaf browning) the leaves might brown or tint early so please record this as first tint. The widespread infestation will be taken into account when the results are analysed.

Expected date range: early August to mid October

Available historic data: we have good records from 1933-1946 and from 1999
