Winter buds: green, fat oval buds, arranged in opposite pairs.
Leaves: opposite, 5 toothed and pointed lobes, long pink or green petioles.
Flowers: male and female yellow flowers in hanging clusters.
Fruit: paired winged fruits form an updside down v shape.
Distribution: widely planted.

Field maple
Part of the same genus these two species are easily confused. Field maple's have a wider angled seed than sycamores.
